Welcome to

King’s Oak School

Bring us your past and leave with your future.

Music

In year 7 we will be learning about Elements of Music and creating our own Musical ostinatos (just like STOMP). We will celebrate Halloween by composing a spooky piece of music and Christmas by singing and playing (out loud) some all time favourite Christmas carols. We will design and make our own instruments from recycling and compose a piece of music for our emerging junk orchestra. We will explore the range of voices and beats on keyboards, learn how to play some famous  keyboard pieces and even organise a KS3 concert to perform these. We will learn about instruments of the orchestra, explore instrumental families, and get familiar with different timbers while wandering through the magical landscape of Peter and Wolf. We will even get to meet some professional musicians that will talk to us about their instruments and give us a chance to try these out. Watch this space!

PETER AND THE WOLF

STOMP - Out Loud

Rhytm and garbage can make sense.. :) This is full footage of the movie from fantastic group STOMP - Out Loud.

In year 8 we will explore various different musical styles including, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Rap and Blues Music. We will play the keyboards (piano), guitars (acoustic, electric and bass) and we will learn some cool basic drum beats. We will look at the key skills that are required for playing together as a band. We will write songs both live and on computer as we explore and master the command of Garage Band on our I-Pads.
