Policies

School policies cover every aspect of school life. Below are some of our most important policies for your reference. If you want to know our policy on something that is not listed, please ask the school office. Paper copies are available from the school office free of charge.

Our School Uniform

Our school uniform was designed in close consultation with parents, carers, students and staff.

  • Black blazer with King’s Oak School.
  • Black V-neck jumper.
  • Black school trousers (not jeans) which must be worn around the waist.

Students cannot wear:

Offensive Weapons - Our Approach

We know that King's Oak is a safe environment in which to learn and work. It is very rare for
acts of violence to be witnessed.

Everyone is aware that under no circumstances should anyone be in possession of ‘an
article with a blade or point, or an offensive weapon’,
or any item which could be reasonably
considered
as such.

We do not search pupils daily and do not expect pupils to hand in all their property - except those items agreed under the school rules i.e. mobile phones. However, we do reserve the right to search pupil's property or person at random, as this is a condition of entry (in line with our behaviour policy) or when under suspicion of carrying something as described above.

Should a pupil be found to be carrying something described above:

Situation 1: In certain circumstances and if deemed appropriate, the adults(s) involved will ask
for the item to be handed over for safekeeping until at least the end of the day (for example, a
metal afro comb). If appropriate, parents may be called to collect the item and a warning given
about future use.

Situation 2: If a pupils is carrying something that SLT/ Police deem an offensive weapon we
reserve the right to confiscate the item, returning it to parents or passing it to Police. We may
also deem it appropriate to immediately arrest them / hand them over to Police

Situation 3: If a pupils refuses to be searched when under suspicion - or when randomly chosen
to be searched
– that pupil will be denied entry to school / arrested by our safer schools
officer and / or the Police will be called

Should you have any questions related to this, please do not hesitate to speak to either Meic or Jill at the school.

G.D.P.R

As a school and member of the Imperium Federation, we have taken comprehensive steps to ensure G.D.P.R. compliance including a full audit, training and policy.

We will, under the current guidance respond to requests within the one calendar month. However, requests received during or just before school closure periods will not be able to be responded to within the one calendar month response period. This is because the school will be closed, and as such, no one will be on site to comply with the request.

As a  result, it is unlikely that your request will be received during this time (and so the time period does not run until we have received the request). We may not be able to acknowledge your request during this time (i.e. until a time we receive the request) and the time period may not start until the school re-opens.

The school will endeavour to comply with requests as soon as possible and will keep in communication with you as far as possible. If your request is urgent, please provide your request during term times and not during or close to closure periods.
