Welcome to Catering
Year 7 & 8 - Key Stage 3 Introductory programme will include: Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Health & Safety, Basic Food Preparation Skills as well as Practical Cooking Sessions.
Year 9 - City and Guilds Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Food Preparation & Cooking (7131-03)
Students will gain the skills to work in a kitchen - from storing food hygienically to cooking simple dishes. You could go on to work in any professional kitchen, perhaps in a hotel, restaurant or school.
The Level 1 is also a great foundation for further training. After earning your certificate you can move on to a whole range of Level 2 qualifications, for example:
- Diploma in Professional Cookery
- Diploma (NVQ) in Hospitality
- Diploma in Professional Food and Beverage Service
- Certificate in Professional Patisserie and Confectionary
- Award in Barista Skills
Year 10 & 11 - City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Kitchen Services (7132-14)
