P. E.
Physical Education at King's Oak is about creating opportunities to compete in sport and other activities that build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Pupils have one double lesson of PE a week (Tuesday). During this lesson they will be encouraged to participate in a range of activities both familiar and new. They will be expected to work as a team, to encourage and to support their peers through the challenges that they face.
The sports covered in KS3 are:
- Cross Country Running
- Football
- Hockey
- Basketball
- Boccia
- Athletics
- Table Tennis
Swimming and Climbing
In KS3 the pupils work on a carousel timetable between Swimming and Climbing.
We feel that it is vitally important that pupils have the opportunity to learn to swim so that they can be safe in the water.
Climbing offers the pupils an opportunity to try something they are nervous about and to overcome the obstacles and challenges to achieve their end goal. These are values that we are trying to instill within our pupils in all areas of life.
Sporting Events
The pupils are able to represent the school and the borough of Greenwich at sporting events throughout the year. These include:
- South London Special League Football.
- London Youth Games Football
- London Youth Games Boccia
All of these events give pupils an opportunity to experience competitive sport in a grander scale.
