  • Borough Letter and Vulnerable Children

    Wed 22 Apr 2020

    Dear Parent / Carer,

If you received or do receive a letter from the Borough regarding Vulnerable Children (especially those with social workers) attending school, please disregard.

This letter is targeted towards children within mainstream settings not pupils who attend specialist education - which under the current guidance from the DfE and PHE states :

"Many children and young people who have an EHC plan can remain safely at home. Where the risk assessment determines a child or young person with an EHC plan will be safer at home, it may be more appropriate for them to stay at home."

We send weekly updates and risk assessments to both the Borough, Social Care and to the DfE and all have agreed that you are right to keep your child at home.

If you are worried about this letter - please contact me and I will go through it with you and ensure that your social worker is aware.

    Keep safe!

  • Paediatric Appointments

    Mon 06 Apr 2020

    Dear All

There are growing concerns amongst many paediatricians that children are presenting late to paediatric emergency departments due to worries about exposure to Covid-19 or not wanting to be a drain on NHS resources. Such delay may be life threatening for the child and also potentially increases the demand for critical care.

A note to our patients and families that paediatric emergency departments are safe and functioning well and that if they have serious concerns about their child’s health they should contact the GP and not be afraid to use the paediatric  emergency department when it is required.

Where you have very vulnerable children with long term or recurrent respiratory problems and difficulties with chest clearance please do make sure they have an emergency care plan regarding who to call in the event of a deterioration and when they would need admission to hospital.

    Thank you so much,

    Dr Toni Wolff

  • Rainbows for the NHS

    Wed 01 Apr 2020

    Dear all,

We've received this 'call to arms' letter from the Leader of the Council - Danny Thorpe ... I know you can help! Ms Rose West is already on the case:

    Dear all,

As you know, a lot of work is being done by many, many people who are doing their best to tackle Covid19. Teachers, shop workers, nurses – it is an unbelievable effort and I want to thank you for what you are all doing.

You will no doubt have seen that the Government have set up a completely new hospital at the Excel Centre, NHS Nightingale.

The chief Executive of Oxleas NHS trust who are based in Greenwich, Matthew Trainer, has been seconded to run the hospital, which is a huge and daunting task. The new hospital can support up to 4000 people.

For many of you who may have been to the centre, you will know it is a pretty blank space and in order to help support Matthew and the teams on NHS workers - many of whom are having to move away from their family for weeks and weeks – we want to create a wall of Rainbows and message for Matthew and the team.

SO – I’m hoping as many of you as possible can help us to create hundreds and hundreds of Rainbow pictures and messages to send over.

    What do you think?

If you can create a rainbow - anyway you like ... take a photo, scan, upload to either Google Classroom or to my email address: exechead@imperium.greenwich.sch.uk then I can print them out, laminate them (so they are sterile) and then drop them off to NHS Nightingale! Don't forget to put King's Oak on them!

Can you get this done by Friday?!?!?
