Black Lives Matter
Dear pupils and our fabulously, diverse families,
The killing of George Floyd has shocked and angered both our King's Oak and Imperium family. We know that some of you will have talked about it with family and friends and most striking of all, some of you will have experienced situations similar to this, just because of your heritage.
This, we do acknowledge, will lead to a huge range of emotions and questions that you are experiencing.
The Black Lives Matter movement is vitally important as it continues to drive forward the truth - that people continue to experience racism, brutality and death. It is criminal that the lives of our loved ones and friends are endangered or affected by systematic racism and brutality.
This is the time for us to stand together. This is the time for us to be purposefully anti-racist.
As a family, we celebrate our achievements and goals daily - but we also focus on specific celebrations such as Black History Month and Pride. It is vital that we are both educated and educate. This is the time for us to shout loudly with one voice...that racism will NOT be tolerated at any level-at any time.
We want to be able to support you and your families - so if we can, please just ask. We are here for you.
